What is a health/life coach?

A health/life coach is a professional guide, mentor, accountability partner, and personal advocate for living an energized and passionate life. People are guided step-by-step through the process of becoming an active participant in their health, happiness and wellness. Individuals are empowered to take responsibility for their health and supported in making sustainable lifestyle choices. A health/life coach does not prescribe one diet or one way of living. Rather, they help people develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for their bodies.

Are we going to be talking only about food?

NO, food is just the side piece, not the main squeeze. A coaching relationship goes much deeper than that, beyond kale and quinoa. We’re talking the juicy stuff, the essence that nourishes our life- passion, purpose, drive, authenticity, energy, fulfilling relationships, rewarding work, living an inspired life. It’s all about the bigger picture. You will rediscover what makes you come alive and learn how to cultivate more of it in your life.

How is this different from any other diet or weight loss approach I’ve taken?

The short answer is you’ll have to experience a coaching conversation to see. The long answer is because it is not a quick fix approach. Our objective is to create sustainable, long-term positive change, therefore it takes time to implement new patterns of behavior, thought and action. We will not be counting calories, because the body is much more complex than “calories in, calories out.” Each system is dependent on the other. You will learn how to tune into your body’s unique needs to find your unique balance. You will be guided through the world of contradictory nutrition, health and lifestyle information to find what works for you.

Why are the coaching sessions so powerful?

Our coaching sessions are a completely confidential, non-judgement, extremely optimistic and support space for you to just let it out! Where else in your life do you have someone to truly HEAR you and listen to what’s in your head and on your heart- while also receiving ongoing professional support towards improvement? Chances are it may be slim pickings. Not only do you receive the support to clear your mental and emotional space, but you also receive valuable tools and techniques to implement change toward your greater growth.
